Interested in Governance?
Get involved in the School Advisory Board
We have a variety of School Advisory Board member openings available across our schools with details on the Governance Opportunities flyer below.
We would like to hear from anyone who is interested in these roles. Experience of school governance or related fields would be helpful but is NOT essential as we would provide training. There are usually 3 meetings of the SAB per year, plus training opportunities.
Get involved in the Trust Board
We are also currently seeking to recruit, to the Trust Board, a new non-executive director with experience in primary education. There are usually 6 meetings of the Trust Board per year plus committee meetings and training opportunities.
What is the role of a Trustee?
The trustees of the academy trust are both charity trustees and company directors.
The trustees should focus on the three core functions of governance:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
- Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
- Overseeing and ensuring effective financial performance.
The trustees must apply the highest standards of governance and take full ownership of their duties. They must comply with the trust’s charitable objects, with company and charity law, and with their funding agreement.
Role and person specifications can be found below. You can also find out more about our governance arrangements here.
If you are interested in governance and would like to discuss the opportunities we have, please contact Maia Hill, Clerk to the Board of Trustees by email: trustees@maidenerleghtrust.org
